as perfect as my home country may seem, it could definitely work on a few things. (see also, racism.)

The province of Quebec also requires that trans people be sterilized.

Ah, yes, that fun law.  To be legally recognized as your gender, you must be sterilized!  I’m curious as to the initial dialogue that formulated this idea, and why it’s specifically ‘sterilized’.  I guess they must not want trans people procreating.  It’s stated as if it’s ‘for the benefit of the trans person, because MtFs would surely not want to get a person pregnant, and FtMs would not want to give birth.’  Yeah..well….um… I’m pretty sure if they don’t want to do those things they.  Won’t do them.  Yeah.  I’m pretty sure you don’t have to go cutting things to NOT DO SOMETHING you already don’t want to do.

At the same time, there’s a lot of places in North America that specify to have your gender recognized in certain legal forms, you must have X and X and X surgery, and many lower surgeries do result in sterilization.  I feel like when I read that a person ‘must have lower surgery’ they’re saying almost the same thing.

On the swap side, it’s fucking impossible if you’re trans to get lower surgery/sterilization under coverage if you’ve switched your sex markers.  WHOOPS you have testicular complications but you have an F on your documents??  THAT’S not covered, everybody knows that WOMEN don’t need testicular care!  LOLOLOL!

Dancing in the streets of Sweden and announcing that I’m trans in hopes that somebody will cut out my uterus and throw it in a wood chipper is… almost tempting.  Though I’d feel terrible for taking advantage of a terrible, terrible system for oppressing trans people.

But man, I’ve got endometriosis, fibroids, exploding cysts (exploding. EXPLODING!!), and cervical pre-cancer under my belt, and STILL doctors fight me on the hysterectomy issue.  I’ve been trying for 7 years, what’s it going to take?  Fuck!
